Lady Gaga’s former Lower East Side apartment is up for grabs

176 Stanton Street has become a landmark in pop music history.

Before The Fame, the glamour, the paparazzi and all her little monsters, Lady Gaga was writing songs out of this one-bedroom apartment in Manhatten’s Lower East Side. These tunes made way for some of the biggest pop anthems the world knows today.

“I wrote so much music in that place,” Lady Gaga remembers.

Gaga’s former pad was featured on 60 Minutes during the popstar’s interview with Anderson Cooper back in February. Now the digs are up for rent and you can move right on in for $1,850 a month.

New York real estate brokers Citi Habitats hype the flat as a “phenomenal 1br sporting French doors, a marble bath and a spacious floor-plan.”

“I got so inspired living there,” Gaga adds.

So make that $1,850 a month, creative stimuli included.

But it’s not just the 3rd floor apartment that’s oozing with musings, the entire Lower East Side has Gaga tingling.

The Born This Way singer’s last two singles, “Edge of Glory” and “Marry the Night” paint a picture of her love affair with the neighborhood. And no matter how much time the international sensation spends touring the globe, she refuses to permanently uproot and leave the big apple.

“There’s part of me that just loves it and part of me that’s also terrified that if I leave, some part of the bravery and the courage that I had, the feeling of survival in New York City, will leave my spirit,” she says.

There are parts of NYC that will remain with Gaga forever, like the memories of her days living with faulty plumbing and a small hot water tank.

“It’s nice to get into the bathtub sometimes and there’s no hot water,” Gaga says. “You know, it’s like fuck, that’s real life.”
