Lady Gaga spreads the love

Lady Gaga is on a worldwide promotional tour in support of her latest No.1 charting album Joanne.

The superstar’s trek recently brought her to Paris where she rocked the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show alongside fellow performers Bruno Mars and The Weeknd.

Gaga’s next stop was London for an appearance at the British Fashion Awards and then the Royal Variety Performance fundraiser event where she sang her single “Million Reasons” to a haut-monde audience which included royal highness Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

Gaga is booked solid, but while in London, she still took time off from her run to spread some love and kindness at the Albert Kennedy Trust, a charity for homeless LGBT youth.

Gaga surprised the center’s young occupants with massive bags of clothing from H&M and groceries from Whole Foods Market, and then reportedly spent four hours becoming acquainted with the group.

Just a few weeks earlier, Gaga visited another LGBT shelter, New York’s Ali Forney Center, where she brought gifts and loads of clothing from GAP for the teens and then led them in meditation and song.

“I have always had gay friends and I have been very, very rooted in the gay community since I was young,” Gaga says of her support and generosity towards the community.

While promotional commitments keep her across the pond, in New York, Gaga’s mama Cynthia Germanotta, and the singer’s former-fiance Taylor Kinney got together and stepped in to represent her in the Today Show’s ongoing #ShareKindess campaign.

All of these generous selfless acts were made on behalf of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation, a non-profit she and her mom launched on February 29, 2012 during a ceremony at Harvard University featuring U.S. Health & Human Service Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Oprah, and renowned spiritual speaker Deepak Chopra.

The Born This Way Foundation’s mission is to empower youth and inspire bravery, individuality, love and acceptance. As you may have noticed, Gaga’s charity takes its name from the singer’s monstrous hit single “Born This Way,” a song that promotes the same things that the foundation stands for.

Having endured bullying and torment as a teen, and suffering from mental illness herself, Gaga has compassion, sympathy and understanding for vulnerable, suffering youth and will continue to use her position in the public eye to bring about awareness and inspire good will.

“I feel a moral obligation to make the world a better place,” she explains. “To speak up in the defense of love, in the defense of unity, in the defense of togetherness.”

While Gaga leads the foundation, she doesn’t pretend to have all the solutions that will end intolerance and inequality, nor has she crowned herself a patron saint or poster girl of the cause.

“I don’t view it that way,” the superstar says remaining humble.

“I view me as part of the generation, not as a leader. I am just a part of the voice.”
