A Juno nomination for Canadian pop starlet Victoria Duffield

2013 Juno Award nominee, Victoria Duffield, isn’t just another industry puppet. Victoria is in charge of her career, at least as much as an 18-year-old can be.

“I’ve co-written all of my songs,” Victoria says. “So I’m very much connected with my songs.”

The same goes for the production of her videos, like the certified platinum single “Shut Up and Dance.”

“I’m a part of that as well. For my first video, as a dancer, I wanted to make sure I portrayed that to everybody who was just getting to know me as an artist. Having acting experience, I wanted to put that together in one video. It’s great being allowed to do that working with Warner. I’m definitely a part of the creative process.”

Victoria’s debut album, Shut Up and Dance, is nominated for Pop Album of the year at the 2013 Juno Awards. See all the nominees here. The Juno Awards air Sunday, April 21 on CTV.
