Colt Prattes’ playlist
P!nk and her “Try” music video co-star, Colt Prattes, blew the roof off the American Music Awards on Sunday night.
The pair’s dynamite performance of P!nk’s hit single brought fire and magic back to a gala that just isn’t what it used to be.
“You’re right. I feel like performing music as a whole isn’t what it used to be,” Colt says over the phone. “But there’s this light from P!nk. She’s always going to make something new and different happen. She’s always going to push the envelope.”
And raise the bar.
As P!nk and Colt bled emotion all over the AMA stage, the hunky dancer didn’t see the countless jaws drop and lift into a standing ovation.
“I didn’t look at the audience,” Colt says. “If I did, I wouldn’t have been focused on telling the story of this beautiful piece. I didn’t think of anything but being there with P!nk and being in the moment.”
That instant is one that won’t soon be forgotten. Colt says it’s deeply etched in his memory anyway.
“I get choked up by the enormity of it all. When we walked off that stage and closed the door behind us, I started yelling, I was just so excited. I’ll never forget it.”
Colt’s made a playlist of 5 memorable tunes for you.
.
Home – Marc Broussard
“It’s off his Carencro album. I dig soul at the end of the day. When it comes to music, I’m not looking for a style or genre. I’m looking for something else. Something that gets your heart beating. The soul part of it.”
.
Again – John Legend
“There’s a lot soul and emotional dynamics to this song. I don’t need to listen to heavy metal to get me going and pick up the heavy weight. It’s about so much more. It’s about where my mind and heart beat is.”
.
This Boy – James Morrison
“‘This Boy’ is story driven with a point.”
.
Ain’t Goin’ Down (‘Til the Sun Comes Up) – Garth Brooks
“This is the Georgia boy in me. I listened to this song growing up. All the music that I choose to listen to at any point in my life makes me feel.”
.
Try – P!nk
“‘Try’ is so special. If you really listen to it and let it in, it will touch you. That’s the whole point of music, art and performing.”
