Sarah Booth’s playlist
Let’s hope that Canadian sweethearts like Ellen Page and Sarah Polley enjoy sharing that title because actress Sarah Booth is up-and-coming and rising fast.
The Ormstown native has the looks, the charm, the know-how and innate talent to keep her in the big race.
And then there’s her modesty, more refreshing than a Perrier water ad campaign.
“I was in a movie called Deadfall, opposite Eric Bana,” Sarah mentions between mouthfuls of the draft beer she ordered in a dusty dive on the edge of downtown Montreal.
Academy Award winner Sissy Spacek and legend Kris Kristofferson also star in the crime thriller, Sarah simply says in passing.
How the lady maintains such composure with the magnitude of her American debut is beyond me.
“OK, I admit I was a little star struck the first time I met Eric Bana for a reading. This was my first time with a big, big star,” Sarah smiles. “When he walked into the room, I realized, ‘Wow! This is really happening,’ but I got over that in two minutes.”
With her feet heavy on the ground, Sarah is as professional as they come, which isn’t all that surprising as this twenty-something has been part of the workforce since the age of 13.
“Growing up, my mom always said, ‘You want to buy your own stuff? You get a job,’” she remembers. “I never really stopped. I love working and I love pushing myself.”
Speaking of challenges, some of Sarah’s latest feats include stunt work like dodging fire balls on the set of Keifer Sutherland and Carrie-Anne Moss’ new flick, Pompeii, and co-producing and starring in the applauded short film To Hell With Love, written and directed by her husband, Canadian filmmaker Gavin Michael Booth.
In To Hell With Love, Sarah doesn’t just rise to the occasion of working with her hubby for the first time, she also steps outside her comfort zone to play a character so far from anything she has ever done.
As that is, you can still get to know Sarah through this dark tale of horror.
“One thing I definitely have in common with my character is that I’m a curious little shit, who won’t give up in impossible situations,” she says.
As more exciting projects develop, bringing Sarah to the forefront of the Canadian film scene, you can get to know the starlet via her playlist here.
