Tyler Hoechlin’s playlist

TylerHoechlinTeen Wolf’s Tyler Hoechlin crushed fans when he announced he wasn’t returning as a series regular for season 5 of MTV’s hit creature feature.

The star walked away from his role as werewolf Derek Hale so he could fully pursue movie opportunities.

All is forgiven though. Tyler’s upcoming projects have the power to mend all those broken hearts.

The stud teamed up with Gossip Girl alumni hunks Chace Crawford and Aaron Tveit for the forthcoming baseball flick Undrafted.

Then Tyler has Everybody Wants Some in post-production. The comedy costars Step Up’s Ryan Guzman who recently caused pulses to race like runaway freight trains in the steamy thriller The Boy Next Door starring Jennifer Lopez.

Tyler also put on his funny face for a cop role in another comedy, The Sticks.

Now that is more than enough to make fans forget how cheated they felt by Tyler’s departure from Teen Wolf.

Tyler on the other hand won’t soon get the phenomena that is the series and its fans’ massive devotion out of his mind.

“I did the Comic Con in London,” Tyler says. “Leaving home and seeing how it’s reaching other countries is a weird mind and eye opening thing. You see it’s not just spanning in the States, it’s spanning across the world. It’s a crazy concept. It’s awesome to see how people are connecting to it.”

Acting aside, Tyler feels a deep connection to music.

“I’m a huge fan of rock, indie rock and alternative. I’ve always been a big Dave Matthews Band fan and Jack Johnson. I’m a beach bum, so anything surfer is my go to,” he says.

Tyler also mentions that he’s a big fan of discovering new music, “but from the past,” he adds. “Bands that I haven’t heard of that have been around forever.”

That’s how Tyler came to love The Black Keys.

“I got familiar with their new album, went back to all their old albums and was just blown away. The Black Keys are hands down my favorite,” he says.

Fitting. Tyler is obsessed with the Keys’ track, “Howlin’ For You,” and has made it his personal theme song.

If you were to look, here are 6 artists you can bet on finding in Tyler’s iTunes.
