Bombay Bicycle Club’s playlist
Bombay Bicycle Club is pedaling on high gear.
Earlier this year, the Brit boys returned with another album, So Long, See You Tomorrow, impressively, their fourth full length in just 5 years.
“Jack is consistently making new music,” says guitarist Jamie MacColl.
So Long, See You Tomorrow took a little longer to pull together than the albums that came before it, but that’s only because BBC frontman Jack Steadman wrote the new record on the move while traveling through Asia and Europe.
Otherwise, their typical creative process was totally in check.
“All of our songs initially start off with Jack making demos,” Jamie reveals. “He’ll show it to us, and if we all like the song, then we work on it together and finish it as a band.”
As a collective, the guys are on to something. The success of So Long, See You Tomorrow has the band touring the world for a second time since the album’s release in February.
Highlights on the international tour include Ibiza, Singapore, Sydney and Montreal.
For the road and for sentimental purposes, bass player Ed Nash put together a playlist of fellow UK acts that help remind him of home.
.
Two Door Cinema Club
“Two Door Cinema Club writes the catchiest songs. I get their tunes caught in my head for weeks. They can write an album of 10 songs which can all be singles and that’s a hard thing to do.”
.
Wild Beasts
“The lead singer has a completely crazy voice. They write very sexy music. We love it.”
.
Dutch Uncles
“We’re friends with the Dutch Uncles and we’ve toured together. They aim to make pop music, but in a really interesting way with complex rhythms and guitar playing. Very cool.”
..
Foals
“They’re live show is one of the best I have ever seen.”
.
James Blake
“He’s made some good, strong songs.”
.
Metronomy
“Really, really good. Groovy, geeky, nerdy pop songs that are cool.”
The Bombay Bicycle Club is on an international tour and plays Montreal’s Osheaga on Sunday, August 3. The band returns to the US & Canada in support of Milo Greene in October. See their full itinerary here.
