Hello Bella’s playlist

Hello Bella will get you at “hi” and soon enough this quintet will barely need an introduction, but here’s one for old time’s sake:

Hello Bella is Stephanie Poort on vocals, Matt Naylor on lead guitar, Mitch Fiddick on bass, Nic Malara on keys, guitar and Rob Pearse on drums.

Hello Bella’s LP debut, Echoes of the Atmosphere, is four months old and their future is looking bright.

Not even five years since their formation, Hello Bella has shared the stage with the Black Eyed Peas, now how’s that for an early career highlight?

“The show was fantastic. I couldn’t see the end of the crowd,” lead vocalist Stephanie Poort fondly remembers.

There was a moment in the recent past when Hello Bella’s fate didn’t look so promising. Within 24 hours of landing their gig with the Black Eyed Peas, a fire caught in the band’s living quarters “and the worst room hit was our band room,” Stephanie explains.

“We had three weeks to get prepared for the biggest show of our careers. Our fans in our hometown put together a fundraiser to help raise money to replace some gear. It was amazing.”

Since the blaze, the stars aligned and that brings us back to Echoes of the Atmosphere. Try the sugary ballad “Earthquake.” Prettier than prom night with the lights down low, this slow dancer is fit for a Twilight Saga romance or the soundtrack of another teen movie.

Don’t forget the lead single “Stand,” a production-polished pop/rock ditty with soaring vocals and one catchy hook chorus.

Judging from the contagious sounds and melodies of Echoes of the Atmosphere, Hello Bella’s influences are undeniable. “I am a pop lover at heart,” Stephanie confirms.

Here are five songs that Hello Bella’s lead vocalist is crushing on.

.

Price Tag – Jessie J

“This Brit’s voice kills me! I envy the range on those pipes!”

.

Forget You – Cee Lo Green

“This is my current car-dancing tune. Anyone who’s ever driven with me and had the privilege to be exposed to my automobile moves will know that this one makes me completely rock out and earn unforgettable looks of bystanders.”

.

The Story – Brandi Carlile

“I can’t remember if the first time I heard this song was on Grey’s Anatomy or at a cousin’s wedding, but I just love the way Brandi sings it, she carries a rasp like no other! I love the words of this song too. One of my favorites.”

.

Not Like the Movies – Katy Perry

“Not only is the melody of this so delicate and beautiful, but she also paints a story with the lyrics and the expression in her voice gives me goose bumps.”

.

Black or White – Michael Jackson

“This song is a classic, never gets old. Not much to explain here, just a natural love for one of the best artists of all time and songs that force you to play air guitar.”
