Bernard Robichaud’s playlist
“It’ll be hard to kill something like Trailer Park Boys,” says series star Bernard Robichaud.
Ain’t that the truth.
Showcase axed the Gemini-winning comedy at the end of its 7th season in 2008 after residing on the network since the pilot aired in 2001.
But that swing of the blade didn’t kill it. It made the series stronger. In no time Trailer Park Boys returned to screens with three follow-up movies including 2014’s Don’t Legalize It and a 90-minute special Trailer Park Boys: Live at the North Pole.
The success of the spin-offs quickly found Trailer Park Boys a new home on Netflix. Season 8 and the upcoming 9th are exclusive to the streaming site, and all previous seasons and specials are available to Netflix users in Canada, the US and beyond.
Bernard, who has played Cyrus, the Park’s gun wielding, drug-dealing bad boy, has taken on a variety of roles outside the series since he joined the cast a decade ago. But even with gigs like a reoccurring part in TV’s supernatural drama Haven, Bernard may never shake Cyrus off his back.
“It’ll be hard for me to break away from Trailer Park Boys and that feels great,” Bernard says, accepting his fate. “I’ve realized that I’ll be known as Cyrus forever.”
Or at least for a few more years. Netflix already has plans for a 10th and 11th season of the Canadian cult comedy.
“Trailer Park Boys isn’t going anywhere soon,” he says, confirming its future.
Before Bernard called in to chat from an airport terminal, he had tunes playing in his ears to pass the time.
“There are so many great bands out there,” he says. “I like listening to rock, country, hip hop, everything really.”
You can find these acts in Bernard’s most played list.
Eminem
Maroon 5
Adele
Razorback
Electric Light Orchestra (ELO)
Season 9 of Trailer Park Boys will be released to Netflix on Friday, March 27, and you can keep up with Bernard on twitter.
