The second coming of Lorde: New world tour brings the star back to Canada

Right now Lorde is at the half-way point of her second international concert series, the Melodrama World Tour.

The outing in support of Lorde’s second album Melodrama brings the superstar to Quebec City’s summer music festival le Festival d’été de Québec on July 18.

The New Zealand singer’s arrival will put her atop the lineup which includes fellow superstars The Weeknd, Neil Young, Shawn Mendes, Foo Fighters, The Chainsmokers, Beck and Dave Mathews Band.

Lorde has passed through Canada a few times now and she remembers each trip very fondly.

“I always have a good time,” Lorde says expressing her love of touring the nation.

Among Lorde’s treasured memories, a special stop in Toronto stands out.

In June of 2014, the 21-year-old reigned over the city and delivered a double knock-out performance at the MuchMusic Video Awards where she claimed the honor of Best International Video for her No.1 hit single “Royals.”

“That was cool,” Lorde looks back. “Very chill. Nice energy, nice vibe. All the people were insane and so loud. I liked it.”

While traveling the world, Lorde says she hoards memories to return home with and another memorable moment in Canada happens to make the shortlist of her favorites.

“We played somewhere in New York and we got to Niagara Falls at like 7 a.m.,” she remembers. “Me and my band mates tumbled out of the car delirious from doing the border crossing and not sleeping.”

What Lorde saw next remains etched in her mind.

“The falls were frozen,” she swoons. “It was magical.”

Speaking of spellbinding, if we get back to the magic that is the Festival d’été de Québec, adding to its glory and joining Lorde on this year’s bill is the legendary Cyndi Lauper and other favorites including Busta Rhymes, Passenger, Frank Turner and Phoenix to name a few.

Passes for the fest are on sale now. Don’t miss your chance at being a part of an unforgettable experience.
