Danny Fernandes’ playlist

Since Danny Fernandes kicked off his music career, each summer means multiple nominatons at the MuchMusic Videos.

This year is no exception. Danny’s hit single,“Automatic,” is up for Video of the Year and Post Production of the Year, raising the count to nine noms since 2009.

“It’s freaking awesome and I’m so overwhelmed, Danny says over the phone. “I still can’t believe I was nominated.”

Obviously Danny and his crew are doing something right, at least the fans and the bigwigs at MuchMusic think so.

So what’s the secret to producing an award-nominated video?

“A great video has to have as much of a storyline as the song does,” Danny says. “If you’re shooting a video for a song and that song tells a story, the video should tell that story even better. I hate watching videos that have nothing to do with the song.”
