90210’s Shenae Grimes has a new zip code

From Degrassi to 90210 and on to New York, Shenae Grimes has a new zip code.

Fans of the 90s spinoff don’t panic, Shenae is just on an off-set summer hiatus.

For the next two months, Shenae has decided to live in the East Village and volunteer as Teen Vogue’s newest intern.

That’s right, this starlet turned intern is climbing down the corporate ladder. Why is she doing it? The 21 year old says she has dues to pay and needs a change of pace.

That makes sense when you think about Shenae’s rise to fame in the fast lane. It also sounds a lot less crazy when you’re aware that the actress hasn’t as much as attended Orientation Day at acting school.

“I’ve never really taken classes or anything like that,” Shenae reveals.

The Toronto native credits Degrassi for launching her career and teaching her everything she knows.

“They train us well over there. I call it my acting boot camp,” Shenae says.

Shenae is one more Degrassi success story. Hip hop sensation Drake and The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev also experienced instant stardom following their roles on the Canadian teen drama.

“The storylines are so dramatic and challenging for an actor, so I think you really get to hone in on your craft there,” Shenae says. “Degrassi was really your opportunity to spread your wings, make your mistakes, fumble and rise above it.”

Shenae has since won a Gemini for her role on Degrassi, renewed her contract with 90210 for a fourth season and landed a petite part in Wes Craven’s Scream 4.
