The Sounds’ playlist

The Sounds have dusted off their passports and are bound for North America.

The Swedish indie rockers have mapped out a celebratory tour of the continent to mark the 10th anniversary of their breakthrough album Dying To Say This to You.

The tour kicks off in Salt Lake City followed by stops in major cities like Chicago, Dallas, LA, New York, Toronto and Montreal.

During my sit-down interview with the band, keys and guitar player Jesper Anderberg says touring America is a dream come true.

“One of our first goals as a band was to be able to tour and play shows in North America,” he tells me.

“We saw other bands from Sweden like Europe and Roxette doing it, and we wanted to do it too. We’ve had the opportunity to tour North America a few times now and to be able to say that, to play these shows and see our fans come together is a great, beautiful feeling.”

At each gig on the 27-date trek, the band will perform their 2006 album in its entirety which includes hits like “Tony the Beat,” “Running Out of Turbo,” “Queen of Apology” and “Song with a Mission.”

Concert-goers can expect some new material thrown into the mix including The Sounds’ freshly-released single “Thrill,” as well as fan favorites that span the band’s entire trajectory leading back to 1998.

“We really appreciate that we’ve been able to make music for this long,” comments guitarist Felix Rodriguez.

“We want to keep releasing albums and continue touring the world. We’re from a small country, but we can still conquer the world with our music. And we still have fans to please,” he laughs.

Felix and Jesper paired up to make a playlist of their favorite songs to pull out and play on repeat while on the road with the inclusion of a few Roxette staples.

The Beatles – A Day in the Life

Ratatat – Seventeen Years

Van Morrison – Into the Mystic
