Your 2019 Juno Awards host Sarah McLachlan

Sarah McLachlan will host the 2019 Juno Awards, Canada’s biggest night in music.

The singer makes her return to the awards show after being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2017.

Sarah’s return was inevitable, and the Juno Awards couldn’t have a more perfect poster-girl for two obvious reasons.

One, Sarah is nothing short of a Canadian music icon. The star is basically a living legend.

Sarah has a successful career that spans over three decades, and in that time, she has sold over 40 million albums and earned 12 Juno Awards. That goes without mentioning her international stardom and her three Grammy wins, but let’s just keep the focus at home in Canada.

“I’m very lucky that I’m a part of a rich fabric of great music,” Sarah says of the Canadian music scene. “I love this country, I’m so proud to be Canadian.”

As for the second reason, this woman is a standup Canadian. She is a role model with the biggest of hearts, so big that the nation’s leaders have taken notice.

Sarah’s many charitable contributions and philanthropic efforts earned her the honor of being appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada and she received the Order of British Columbia where she resides.

And get this, Sarah says her generosity is simply second nature.

“Every human being has a responsibility, whether they have a platform or not, to give what they can of themselves. I feel doubly responsible because I’m an artist and I have a voice that other people will listen to. I feel the weight of that responsibility. It’s not a bad thing, it’s a wonderful thing. I love that I have this platform and that I can perhaps do greater good. We all want to live to our highest potential, we all want to live our purpose, and for me that’s making music and creating love and joy in the world.”

With that said, the bar has been raised and sky high at that. If the decision-makers at Juno headquarters plan on topping their host selection next year, good luck to them. The 2020 Juno host has a lot to live up to.
