Kid Koala’s playlist
Acclaimed turntablist Eric San, better known to the world as Kid Koala, wants to fly you to the moon and back from Montreal’s Biosphere.
This weekend, Osheaga Arts presents Kid Koala: Space Cadet Headphone Tour and an experience like no other is promised.
“It’s a headphone concert/gallery/science fair and it’s fun for the whole family,” Eric explains.
The audience will be seated in inflatable space pods and each member will be given headphones in which they’ll hear Kid Koala perform the score to his upcoming graphic novel Space Cadet on a piano and multiple turntables.
“The feeling during the concert is that you’re having this communal experience with people around you, but everyone is having a personal, unique headphone experience.”
Kid Koala also invites all space goers to explore the Space Cadet Gallery. Original etch boards from the graphic novel will be on display with a Space Cadet Soundtrack Jukebox, an interactive Music Spaceship Console, and Space Plant Sculpture installations.
“There’s even a Gingerbread Space Cookie decorating table so you can get your munch on,” Eric laughs.
This isn’t a case of the body snatchers, but this is definitely Kid Koala like never before.
“I’ve been playing in clubs and music festivals for over 15 years now,” Eric says. “So now I like to challenge myself and make new experiences happen for everybody.”
And especially for you, fans of the eager kind, Kid Koala will have a limited amount of advanced copies of his graphic novel and soundtrack on site.
Meet up with Kid Koala this weekend for a headphone daydream that he promises will be out of this world. And take a look at what’s playing in his earthbound headphones.
