Mia Martina’s playlist

Mia Martina made an unforgettable introduction with her take on Edward Maya’s international hit “Stereo Love.”

The Top 10 tune has gone platinum and since its release, the video has generated over 14 million views on YouTube.

Now Mia is chasing the successful single with her debut album Devotion and the follow up single “Latin Moon.”

“It’s a feel good record,” Mia says. “And to me that’s an album you can bring to the beach.”

“I love the beach, I love traveling and I’ve always been very cultured. That’s thanks to my parents,” the singer explains.

Mia was born and raised in the tiny town of St. Ignace in New Brunswick, an unlikely birthplace for a rising star of the dance genre.

“I get that all the time,” she shrugs. “But that’s where I’m from and I’m a proud Acadian.”

A small town girl at heart with big dreams on the mind, Mia insists that what you see is what you get, but that’s not completely true.

Mia walked into the music industry through the back door as an intern at CP Records, home to acts like Belly, Danny Fernandes and Massari.

“At first I didn’t tell anyone at the label that I could sing,” she reveals.

As you can imagine, Mia floored executives when she handed them her demo in between coffee runs.

“They were surprised,” she laughs.

“I was basically a gofer. I wanted the chance to see a little of the business side, to see if this was really what I wanted. It was. This is what I’ve always wanted to do and now it’s finally happening,” Mia says with a shimmering smile that is an infectious as her dance hits.
