Howie D celebrates solo debut in Canada

Howie D of the Backstreet Boys is ready to stand on his own after becoming a pop icon, and selling over 100 million albums with the world renowned boy band.

Howie’s solo debut, Back to Me, is available worldwide on November 15 and the singer chose to celebrate the release in Toronto, greeting fans at HMV.

“I have a lot of Canadian love,” Howie says.

So much love that he took Toronto pop/rock act, Neverest, under his wing.

“Not only do I manage Canadian artists,” Howie says. “I work with Canadian producers,” and by Canadian producers, Howie means Canadian elite.

“I’m produced by the Kuya Brothers,” he says with pride.

The Backstreet Boy has reason to boast. The Toronto based Grammy nominated Hip Hop/R&B producers have worked with the likes of Akon, Nelly, Nicole Scherzinger, Jesse McCartney and Shawn Desman.

Howie recruited another Canadian five-star talent, RT, to direct the video of his debut single “100.”

RT, AKA Randall Thorne, is a Calgary born director who has shot videos for an array of talent from Simple Plan and Joel Plaskett to Snoop Dogg and Sean Paul, and “is nominated for several awards,” Howie adds.

The Backstreet Boys have been nominated for their fair share of prestigious awards and have won too many to start counting. Let’s see what Howie D can do standing in his own light.

Either way, chart topper or debut dud, nothing is going to change the way Howie feels about his solo effort.

“I’m very proud,” the pop star smiles.

Howie’s debut album Back to Me is available now.
