Dirty Vegas’ playlist
International electronic dance heavyweights Dirty Vegas made a triumphant return with their third studio album Electric Love earlier this year.
The Grammy Award-winning trio rose to fame with their 2002 self-titled debut. The album’s mammoth hit single “Days Go By,” made popular by the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse television advertisement, launched Dirty Vegas’ career to new heights.
The British trio was on top of the world until unbearable tension set in and the guys parted ways.
“We had a bad experience with Capitol Records and the men in suits,” frontman Steve Smith remembers. “We were controlled and beaten down. Dirty Vegas didn’t split up, we surrendered.”
Nearing seven years since they waved their white flag, Dirty Vegas regrouped and recorded Electric Love. The reason was simple: the time was right.
“Music is about freedom and we have that now,” Steve says.
Fresh off an extensive tour, Dirty Vegas is currently mixing “special” versions of songs from Electric Love and working on new tracks.
On the fine subject of tunes, here’s what Steve has on his playlist.
.
The Wilhelm Scream – James Blake
“Love this guy’s method of slicing up the rhythms and holding us all in with a beautiful haunting vocal.”
.
Coming Home (Dirty South remix) – Diddy feat. Skylar Grey
“Playing this in our DJ sets right now and it sounds amazing!”
.
Wait and See – Holy Ghost
“Love the production and melody from this fave band of ours.”
.
Something Good can Work – Two Door Cinema Club
“Perfect song to lift your spirits.”
.
Little White Doves (Blonde Rocka Remix) – Dirty Vegas
“Sorry to add one of our own, but this remix is killer!”
