Francois & the Atlas Mountains’ playlist
French collective Francois & the Atlas Mountains boarded a plane and are bound for Montreal’s International Jazz Festival.
With them, the boys bring their new release E Volo Love, the first French album to be picked up by the reputable UK label Domino, home to acts like Arctic Monkeys and Franz Ferdinand.
But don’t expect a full on franco recording, frontman Francois Marry poured his bilingualism into these pop-tinged tunes. This way, whoever’s listening gets the whole story behind Francois & the Atlas Mountains.
“I’ve lived and danced, and loved and cried in both the UK and France, in both languages,” Francois says.
Festival goers can catch the crew at the Bell Stage (Corner Ste.Catherine and Clark) on Monday, July 2 at 10 p.m.
Francois promises inevitable “dance moves, shouters, whispers, waves of sounds, hits, beats and excitement.”
Here’s what Francois has playing in his ears as the plane descends on Montreal.
