Mad June’s playlist
Montreal is going to be quiet this weekend with local rockers like Mad June gone to Toronto for Canadian Music Week.
The female 6-piece, that began rattling the city in 2010 after winning the Lilith Fair Local Talent Search, is playing the renowned music fest with oOoOO aka Chris Dexter, Lakes of Canada, Motel Raphael and Emma Louise in Indie Montreal’s CMW showcase.
Before packing it all up and hitting the road, four of the ladies scanned their iPods to make this staple tune playlist.

Untouchable Face – Ani DiFranco
“Her album, Dilate, changed me as a songwriter. I already loved playing music, but Ani gave me the hunger to write lyrics. I was floored by the way she could create such contrast in her songs. As a whole the album is so raw, honest and poetic. The music is rough, dirty and punk, but also soft and beautifully melodic. Her special sense of rhythm and pacing can be felt in the way she structures and sings her songs. I love it.” -Vanessa McLean, vocals
.
Gold Guns Girls – Metric
“I could have chosen any of their songs because they are pretty much all amazing, but I really like the rock soul of ‘Gold Guns Girls.’ It’s the most raw feeling song of Fantasies, and the iTunes Live Session version has an awesome guitar solo.” -Pascale St-Onge, bass & vocals
.
Walk – Foo Fighters
“I love their album Wasting Light, particularly this song.” -Tania Desrochers, guitar & vocals
.
Piste 01 – Galaxie
“I adore the musicians, they are outstanding. Their music is intoxicating and makes me want to dance!” -Lydia Champagne, drums
