Noelle Hannibal’s playlist

Sci-fi starlet Noelle Hannibal lives and breathes art. That’s who she is.

Noelle is best known for her roles as the first female Vulcan to walk the Earth in Star Trek: First Contact and as a member of the Sisterhood of Jhe on TV’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but her talents stretch far beyond film and television.

Look at her passion for musical theatre. Noelle has starred in productions like Chicago, Gypsy, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon and Rent. And that joy springs from her first love: music.

Since her earliest live performance at the age of five, Noelle has been spreading her music around the globe, and in 2010 she delivered her debut album, Somewhere in Between.

Noelle’s love affair with the arts is a give and take relationship, and she gives back unconditionally. Noelle teaches Glee classes in the Montreal area and donates time and effort as the Executive Director of T3 Triple Threat Youth Mentors.

The program offers low cost and free acting, dancing and singing classes to youth who otherwise lack the financial means to pursue their dreams.

This all goes without mentioning Noelle’s admiration for fellow musicians who inspire her everyday.

“I love artists who aren’t afraid to be themselves,” Noelle says before showing off her playlist.

100 Monkeys

“100 Monkeys have been in constant rotation in my head (and my iPod) for the better part of a year. Utterly unique, interesting and fun.”

.

Redd Kross

“One of my favourite bands since I was a kid growing up in LA. They are the kings of ‘rock neck.’ They are coming to town this month as part of POP Montreal.”

.

Jack White

“It doesn’t matter what the project, I am a fan just ’cause he’s involved. In my eyes, he is a genius.”

.

Peter Katz

“Peter writes incredibly thoughtful, beautiful songs. His track ‘The Fence (Mathew Shepard’s Song)’ has moved me to tears on more than one occasion.”

.

Marty Willson-Piper

“Of the band The Church has been my musical idol since I was a kid. My favourite song is ‘To Where I Am Now’ which I have covered on my CD Somewhere In Between.”

Noelle appears at the Montreal ComicCon on September 17 and 18 and closes the event with a full band performance on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased here.
