Reel Big Fish’s playlist
Twenty years since inception, legendary ska troop Reel Big Fish is still the real deal.
Back in 1992, founding frontman Aaron Barrett and then bandmates pulled together a demo. A couple years later, the California collective self-released their debut Everything Sucks and as the saying goes, the rest is history.
Eight studio albums and a couple compilations later, Reel Big Fish continues to set out on boundless tours, playing over 200 shows each year.
“As soon as we get on stage, it all makes sense,” explains drummer Ryland Steen. “This is what we live for. We love our fans, we love music.”
Before even stuffing a change of underwear into a suitcase, music takes priority. At least that’s how Aaron rolls. Music is essential and the man never leaves home without his iPod.
“I can’t leave it behind,” Aaron says. “Everything I have ever owned in my entire life is on my iPod.”
Here’s what Aaron’s packing.
Move On Up – Curtis Mayfield
Don’t Stop ’til You Get Enough – Michael Jackson
Pressure Drop – Toots and the Maytalls
Controversy – Prince
Just Friends – Charlie Parker
