Sebastian Pigott’s playlist

Sebastian Pigott is best known for playing the role of fan-favorite Kai Booker on CBC’s Being Erica.

He also left a mark on audiences after starring in the gruesome opening death scene of Saw 3D.

And then who could forget how the actor/singer-songwriter first caught the nation’s eye as a top 10 finalist on Canadian Idol season 6?

If you’ve tuned into Global’s hit miniseries Bomb Girls, then you’ve already got to know Sebastian’s latest role, James Dunn. If you haven’t, it’s never too late.

Sebastian stars as James, a likable chauvinist (with Sebastian’s good looks, yes that’s possible), who can’t stand his woman’s sense of independence as she works a job in a Canadian munitions factory during WWII.

While you catch Sebastian on Bomb Girls this Wednesday, Europe is getting to know the guy better as he performs in London and Paris this week with his sibling Oliver as The Pigott Brothers. Here’s a playlist Sebastian made for the trip.

.

Into The Mystic – Van Morrison

“Probably my absolutely favorite intro of all time. The first verse is like some sort of beautiful psychic massage. The easy tempo and that soothing bass line. Into the mystic indeed. And then the chorus comes and Van’s voice takes off like only his can.”

.

40 Days and 40 Nights – Muddy Waters

“Off of his Fathers and Sons album, featuring some of the greatest blues musicians of the time, including harmonica legend Little Walter and the great Otis Spann. I inherited the album from my dad, who was a terrific blues harp player himself, and I recently downloaded it off of iTunes.”

.

Miracle Worker – Superheavy

“Who would have thought Mick Jagger would have a hit without the Rolling Stones, let alone in the year 2011. His verse is as good as any he’s ever done and Joss Stone holds down those choruses with her old time soul. Not to mention Damian Marley and Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics.”

.

Red House – Jimi Hendrix

“The version I have is a thirteen minute live performance from somewhere in Europe. It starts off with an intro from Jimi and then launches into parts unknown. Nobody does it like Hendrix.”

.

Gifts of Forgiveness – Bill Hicks

“From his Rants in E Minor album. He was part prophet and part comedian and his last concerts were legendary. Here he tells the story of his journey to the edges of consciousness. What a brilliant man. He redefined standup.”

Bomb Girls airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Global. Follow Sebastian on twitter.
