The Jezabels’ playlist

Aussie pop rockers The Jezabels just can’t stay away from Canada.

“It’s an amazingly beautiful country,” says synth player Heather Shannon. “To come and play music there is awesome.”

An excuse to keep coming back, the foursome from down under signed with Dine Alone Records for the Canadian release of their 2011 debut Prisoner.

While The Jezabels are currently touring the UK with new wave rock gods Depeche Mode, news comes in that the band is sticking with Dine Alone Records to bring Canada their forthcoming sophomore album, The Brink.

The 10-track record was produced by Dan Grech-Marguerat known for his work with Radiohead, Lana Del Rey, Keane, The Kooks, Scissor Sisters and Canada’s own Dragonette.

Like the album that came before, The Brink is a true team effort.

“We are a group of four songwriters and we write everything together,” Heather says. “You could say we’re more of a collaboration than a band, or both, or something. I guess we’re special.”

Never Wanted You – David Bazan

“I keep going back to a live recording of ‘Never Wanted You.’ It’s on the Live at Electrical Audio Studios album. I’m in love with it. The whole song is a subtle build and refrains nicely at the end. He is one of my favorite artists so I pretty much like anything he does.” -Nik Kaloper

The Jezabels’ new album, The Brink, will be released by Dine Alone Records on Tuesday, February 18.
