MGMT returns to a stage near you

The last we’d seen off MGMT the psychedelic pop-rock duo was touring the world in the afterglow of their 2013 self-titled album.

That effort marked the third release by Andrew VanWyngarden and Benjamin Goldwasser, who make up MGMT, and followed the band’s previous records, 2010’s Congratulations and their 2007 debut Oracular Spectacular.

Of these albums, MGMT is best known for Oracular Spectacular simply because it is spectacular.

The album spawned the hit singles “Time to Pretend,” “Electric Feel” and “Kids,” and earned MGMT multiple Grammy nominations and a win for Best Remixed Recording for the Justice remix of “Electric Feel.”

Oracular Spectacular also made Rolling Stone magazine’s Top 20 Albums of the Decade list.

Now the guys of MGMT are busy preparing their spring and summer tour in support of their long-awaited comeback album Little Dark Age.

“Spare time is a foreign concept right now,” Ben answered when I asked him just how swamped they are.

But theyve got things under control. This isnt their first international run. Still, Ben admits that globetrotting isnt always easy.

“I remember the first couple times we toured. We had no idea how to deal with time zones and jet lag. We were in a zombie state for longer than we should have been and we slept all day and couldnt at night. We realized that we have to take a couple days off once in a while and not do anything. We know better now.”

The band plays Montreals MTelus on Saturday, March 17.  More tour dates below. Follow MGMT on twitter and facebook for updates.
