Sean Astin & the Goonies reunite for Fan Expo Canada

Hey you guys! A little Goonies reunion is going down at Fan Expo Canada.

Sean Astin, Corey Feldman and Ke Huy Quan of Steven Spielberg’s 1985 cult classic will be attending the pop culture fan convention in Toronto.

A side from playing Mikey Walsh in The Goonies, Sean is of course famous for many other standout roles including Samwise Gamgee in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, his childhood breakthrough role as Daniel E. ‘Rudy’ Ruettiger in Rudy and more recently, Bob Newby in Stranger Things.

Sean is no stranger to fan conventions. The acclaimed actor has taken part in countless cons around the world. And what has him hooked is you, the fans. Your admiration and devotion keep him coming back for more.

“Conventioneers and science fiction fans at conventions have so much heart, so much love and so much creativity,” Sean says. “They’re so happy to be there even though they’re spending beyond more money than they can heat their homes with in the winter. They just appreciate it.”

Appreciation is actually an understatement, Sean really feels the love when he comes to the conventions in Canada and says there is something special about the way he is greeted by his Canadian fans.

“One thing that’s unique is one word that everybody uses: honor. ‘It’s such an honor to meet you.’ If you go to Comic-Con in San Diego, it’s: ‘Man, I’m so excited to meet you. Man, this is great!’ But [in Canada], it’s ‘an honor to meet you.’ Oh wow, thank you.”

Toronto’s Fan Expo runs Thursday, August 22 through Sunday, August 25. Sean is set to appear Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25. For passes, artist lineup, schedules and more info click here.

Sean can be seen in the Netflix series No Good Nick opposite Melissa Joan Hart. The first 10 episodes of the 20-episode season are now streaming on Netflix. The remaining 10 episodes are scheduled for release this fall.
