Collective Soul thanks Twifans for renewed career

Collective Soul rocked the 90s with multi-platinum albums and #1 hit singles like “Shine,” “The World I Know” and “Precious Declaration.”

During their peak years, the band made a fan out of the acclaimed author of the Twilight Saga, Stephanie Meyer, and that fondness led to their song “Tremble For My Beloved” earning a spot on the soundtrack of the series’ first film.

Upon its release in 2008, the Twilight soundtrack topped the Billboard 200 and exposed Collective Soul’s music to a new generation.

With the latest installment in the Twilight Saga about to break, the guys are reminded of how the Twifans are responsible for rejuvenating their career.

“We’re very thankful. Now our fan base is a true top to bottom demographic,” says bassist Will Turpin.

“We’ve got our fans from our early days, we’ve got 40 year old parents bringing their kids to our shows and teenagers come out too.”

The band has especially taken notice of the increasing number of teens in their live audience since the blockbuster film and soundtrack were released.

“At the shows, I see their faces, especially as they go, ‘Oh! They did that song?’” Will laughs. “Our new fans don’t really know we did songs like ‘The World I Know’ or ‘Shine.’ They heard ‘Better Now’ on the radio and ‘Tremble,’ so they come out to hear those.”

Whether you’re a Twifan or core fan, Will assures that there is something for you all at a Collective Soul show and you’re going to get your money’s worth.

“People are paying their hard earned money to come see us play and we realize that. So you need not worry as far as our hits go, we feel compelled to perform those on a nightly basis,” Will explains.

“We feel good that there are people out there enjoying these songs and we’ve got to get out there and perform them.”

Collective Soul has a few tour dates scattered between now and mid October when lead vocalist, Ed Roland, will team up with Better Than Ezra frontman Kevin Griffin for the Southern Gentlemen Tour.

Collective Soul is also working on a new album. You see, retirement or even a hiatus of any kind just isn’t in the rock icons’ plans.

“We’re back,” Will says. “And it feels like we’re set for the long term.”
