Catch Teen Wolf’s Tyler Posey in new Kevin Smith flick
Tyler Posey of MTV’s award-winning monster series Teen Wolf stars in Kevin Smith’s new horror-comedy Yoga Hosers and all he has to say is “the experience blew me away!”
“I’m a huge fan of Kevin Smith. I grew up watching Mallrats, Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,” Tyler says completely starstruck by the filmmaker.
The real jaw-dropper for this 24-year-old actor is while he is a diehard Kevin Smith fan, it turns out Kevin is actually a huge Teen Wolf buff.
Back in July of 2011, Kevin, being the big fan that he is, invited Tyler to guest star on his weekly podcast show SModcast.
“Which was huge for me,” Tyler comments. “Since then, we kept in touch and they offered me a role in the movie.”
Tyler says he didn’t hold back and think twice about Kevin’s proposal.
“I was so humbled. I immediately jumped on board with it.”
And the players who had previously signed on Kevin’s project only sweetened the deal.
Yoga Hosers stars the iconic Johnny Depp with his daughter Lily-Rose Depp and Kevin Smith’s daughter Harley Quinn Smith in the lead roles.
Depp’s ex Vanessa Paradis, Justin Long, Adam Brody, Austin Butler, Haley Joel Osment, Natasha Lyonne, Jason Mewes and comic book legend Stan Lee also star.
Written and directed by Kevin, Yoga Hosers is the follow-up to his 2014 film Tusk and the second installment in his True North trilogy.
Set in Canada, the story revolves around two inseparable yoga nuts Colleen Collette and Colleen McKenzie who live a normal teen-age existence and work after-school jobs at the Eh-2-Zed convenience store. That is until an ancient evil rises from beneath the earth and threatens their plans to attend a senior party. The two just won’t have it and team up with a legendary man-hunter from Montreal (played by Depp) in order to send these monsters back to hell so they can party on.
Yoga Hosers had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival back in January and made its Canadian debut at Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival in July drawing stinky rotten reviews.
But Tyler shrugs it all off. Being cast in Yoga Hosers was a five-star experience and a personal career highlight.
“Kevin Smith is one of the best directors I ever worked for,” he defends. “He is so professional, so passionate and he works harder than anybody I have ever seen. He is very much himself and inspired me to be passionate, to love what I do, love life and be myself.”
So take that all you naysaying critics.
