The VLA’s playlist

After 5 seasons, Damages, the legal thriller starring Glenn Close and Rose Byrne, is history.

From its pilot in summer of 2007 to its finale earlier this fall, all 59 episodes of the Emmy Award-winning series opened with The VLA’s razor sharp theme song “When I’m Through With You,” putting the Los Angeles-based rock band on the map.

Now with Damages’ end, The VLA marks their beginning.

“Oh yeah! We’re working on something,” says frontman Jason Rabe. “You’ll see.”

While The VLA records new music, you can get your fix through Jason’s side project Book of Fears via youtube, but what you really want to do, is get to know the guitarist better through his playlist.

.

Baby Missiles – The War on Drugs

“Fantastic band from Philly. Just the right mix of Dylan, U2 and Dire Straits. Great songs, great record. Slave Ambient.”

.

Bombs – Just An Animal

“These guys are my pals and I love their new record. They used to be called Red Cortez, but after moving in a new direction, they renamed the band and changed their sound up a bit. It’s pretty awesome live.”

.

Nightcall – Kavinsky

“Off the soundtrack to Drive, this song is the best tune to keep you focused when you are on the 10 in Los Angeles. His other stuff is also great. Kavinsky and David Grellier are both fantastic French DJs who produce amazing tracks.”

.

Hey Moon – John Maus

“A dreamy reflection on love and loss. Best for a foggy night.”

.

Racing in the Street – Bruce Springsteen

“The best song ever written. A whole life and landscape captured in three revolving chords. Always the last thing I listen to on a late night.”
