R. Keith Harris’ playlist

“The pic is not an official production still from CBS. A friend did a screen grab from the broadcast commercial and posted it on my facebook page. It’s a little grainy, but I thought it was fun,” Keith says.

Get ready for the television event of the summer!

CBS is about to premiere the small screen adaptation of Stephen King’s 2009 novel, Under the Dome.

The story goes: the quaint town of Chester’s Mill is suddenly enclosed by an invisible dome cutting off the small population from the rest of the world.

With tensions rising and resources dwindling, all hell breaks loose under the dome.

As if that plot line isn’t intense enough, the writers of the series have strayed from King’s original story, so now anything is possible.

Enter actor R. Keith Harris who plays a pivotal role in the series that isn’t in the book.

“I play the character Peter Shumway, Julia Shumway (Rachelle Lefevre)’s loving husband, or so it seems on the surface. He’s been keeping some secrets from her that have serious repercussions,” Keith reveals.

Until the premiere airs, Keith isn’t saying much more except, “I can’t wait to see the final cut of the fight sequence with Mike Vogel.”

Take a good look at Keith once he takes the screen, it sounds like nothing is what it seems, and I don’t trust the guy.

By the way, if Keith looks familiar when you stare him down, it’s not just you. You’ve probably seen him in Tim Burton’s Big Fish, in Junebug opposite Amy Adams, Dog Days of Summer, or caught one of his guest gigs on shows like Army Wives, Beverly Hills 90210, Dawson’s Creek, One Tree Hill and Revenge.

More diverse than Keith’s film and TV credits is his taste in music.

“It was really hard to narrow it down to just five,” Keith says while putting together his playlist. “But I think this is a pretty good cross-section.”

.

Long Train Running – Doobie Brothers

“‘Without love, where would you be now?’ Nowhere! This song keeps me grounded, helps me remember all the help I’ve got along the way. Not to mention it is a quintessential road trip song. Top of the playlist when I hit the road.”

.

Cinderella – Steven Curtis Chapman

“I have a gorgeous, spunky four year old daughter. Enough said!  This song always gets me. Reminds me just how short the time is and makes me strive to be a better dad.”

.

Heat Miser – House of Large Sizes

“I saw these guys live at a tiny little joint in NC years ago. I have no idea if they are even still together, but they put on such a good show that it’s always stuck with me, and the song is just funny. It makes me smile every time.”

.

Shake it Out – Florence + the Machine

“A life in the arts can be challenging. Lots of ups and downs. My favorite lyric in this song is ‘It’s hard to dance with the devil on your back, so shake him off!’  It reminds me to keep my eyes on the blessings God has given and shrug off the things I have no control over. When I get mired in an artistic lull, I step back, shake it out (literally sometimes), and look at it from a different perspective.”

.

Sail – Awolnation

“This song just rocks. Driving, inspiring and it gets me up off my butt when I want to procrastinate.”
