Kim Bingham’s playlist
To put it plain and simple, Kim Bingham is a rock ’n roll goddess.
Thousands at the Osheaga Music & Art Festival were reminded of just how much of a charge Kim packs when she electrified the stage with Bran Van 3000.
Not that anyone needed a reminder. Just three years ago, Kim was also part of Bran Van’s epic performance at the Montreal International Jazz Festival that attracted a crowd of over 140,000.
When Kim isn’t backing Bran Van live or in the studio, she is lending her talents and aiding in the success of other fellow Canadian artists like David Usher and Nelly Furtado.
This all goes without mentioning her own career. Kim is the driving force responsible for Me Mom and Morgentaler, The Kim Band, Kamikaze Pilot and Mudgirl.
Kim also wrote the score to the acclaimed television series Les Invincibles and won a Gemeaux Award for her work. (The Award is the French counterpart of the Gemini Awards and for our neighbors across the border, it’s the Canadian equivalent to the Emmys)
Kim has become one of Montreal’s prized and cherished artists whose earth tremors and rock ‘n’ roll are a force of nature that is always welcome.
Here are five tunes that rock Kim’s world.
The Healer – Erykah Badu
Trash – New York Dolls
La Canzone Del Sole – Lucio Battisti
Sick, Sick, Sick, – Queens Of The Stone Age
Black Country Rock – David Bowie
