Jenn Grant’s playlist
Jenn Grant charmed Canada with her colorful, third album, Honeymoon Punch. That same record got a Juno nod for Adult Alternative Album of the Year.
Honeymoon Punch isn’t the somber, pensive Jenn that you may have heard on the soundtracks of Grey’s Anatomy, Flashpoint and Heartland. And this is definitely not the vulnerable woman exposed on her two previous albums, Orchestra for the Moon and Echoes.
“Those albums are about a lot of heartbreak and uncertainty.” Jenn says. “I’m definitely in a different, better and happier place now. Honeymoon Punch feels like a beginning. I have a new found control over my life and I can see a future.”
Pushing her moody folk sound aside, this East Coast sweetheart is dancing to a new flirtatious beat, and dabbling in the pop genre. This time around, the girl just wants to have fun.
Jenn shares five tunes that perk up her playlist.
.
Lasso – Phoenix
“I love this song. It’s so dancy and still pulls on my heart. I love you Phoenix, I want to have your baby!”
.
July Flame – Laura Veirs
“This woman is my hero. I love her interesting wordy lyrics, imagery, simplistic yet beautifully driven vocals. And I love the production on all the records by Tucker Martine. Two people to be inspired by for sure.”
.
James – Camera Obscura
“I love the reverb, the mood, and the voice on this song. It reminds of an old movie. It’s a perfect record.”
.
Walk in the Park – Beach House
“I love the whole album Teen Dream, it’s just so catchy and it sounds so good. Need I say more?”
.
West Coast – Jason Schwartzman
“I love the song. I want to play it back to him, but say, ‘East Coast.’ Jason, are you out there?!”
