Jonas & the Massive Attraction’s playlist
The last year has been a festive one for Montreal’s Jonas & the Massive Attraction.
The band is celebrating 10 years in the music biz and the hullabaloo started back in November of 2014 with the release of their latest album X.
The commemorative recording features 7 new songs including the track “Lifeline,” co-written by Canadian icon Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace and 3 revisited fan favorites from the band’s back catalog like “Daddy” initially off Jonas’ 2004 self-titled debut.
Jonas and his band have been touring in support of X since early winter and will take a break from their string of celebratory shows to perform at the International Balloon Festival of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu (International de Montgolfieres de Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu) alongside fellow Canadian superstars Moist.
Shawn Mendes and Our Lady Peace are also on the festival bill.
“Things keep getting better,” Jonas says. “The last year has been very exciting and I have so much to talk about, but above all, I have to mention how special our fans are. They’ve been amazing and so supportive all these years. We love them and we’re forever thankful. They really inspire us to put on the best live show that we can.”
His fans aside, Jonas says he finds inspiration in many things. From the moment he discovered music The Beatles have had a major influence on him, and so on that note, the star made you a playlist of his favorite tunes by the legendary trailblazers.
.
Hey Jude
“This one is special going back to when I was a kid learning to play piano.”
.
Come Together
“I played this song when I was 14 years old in my first rock band Rubberman. It’s an awesome, inspirational kind of song.”
.
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
“Anybody who plays the guitar and does a lot of rehearsing knows that you grow a love, a relationship with your instrument that nobody else can really share. It’s like a love song to a guitar. I think George Harrison is talking about that, not just some lover.”
.
Revolution
“This is Cory’s rebellion song. He’s a romantic rebel.”
.
In My life
“This is a beautiful reflective song. I love the nostalgia and how it makes me look back on my own life.”
