Kevin Griffin’s playlist
Alternative rock icons Kevin Griffin of Better Than Ezra and Collective Soul’s Ed Roland have come together for The Southern Gentlemen Tour.
This acoustic tour is exposing each rockers’ softer, more intimate side, something fans rarely get to see.
“We kick it off in New York and make our way to Athens, Georgia,” says an excited Kevin.
The idea came to Kevin and Ed after they put on a few highly applauded acoustic performances for BMI (Broadcast Music Inc., a performing rights organization). But with or without BMI, the frontmen go way back and were simply bound to collaborate.
“We’ve been around for the same amount of time and always played in the same circles,” Kevin says. “Better than Ezra has played with Collective Soul before and we just hit it off. We’ve always had a great rapport.”
The Southern Gentlemen Tour aside, Kevin has a lot going on. Just last week Better Than Ezra released their Death Valley EP, and the band is working on songs for a full length album expected in 2012. That goes without mentioning the array of artists Kevin produces and co-writes with.
“I do have a busy schedule,” Kevin admits. “But The Southern Gentlemen was just too good to pass up.”
Here’s a look at a few tunes that Kevin has on his playlist.
