Walk Off the Earth’s playlist

SarahBlackwoodKeep your eyes on the viral musical marvel Walk Off the Earth.

The chart-topping, multi Juno-nominated band has some exciting developments on the horizon.

“There is some big stuff in the works. I don’t want to fully give anything away, but we have some really fun and creative video things coming up that we think people are really going to love,” says the group’s vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Sarah Blackwood.

“We’ve been writing new songs as well,” she announces.

The hush-hush unreleased material will eventually emerge as a followup to WOTE’s Juno-nominated album Sing It All Away which features the platinum MMVA-nominated single “Rule the World” and the band’s knock-out collaboration with Steve Aoki Home We’ll Go (Take My Hand).”

As for more details and what exactly WOTE has planned, I cant say anything yet. Haha! I know, Im boring, Sarah laughs.

No joke. The lady seriously isnt talking. I even begged for a little sauce in a post-interview text message. And nothing.

However, I did manage to get Sarah to disclose some additional tiny specifics.

“We’ve been planning a lot of ways to let people even more into our lives, she says. And short term, right now were brainstorming ideas for the Juno Awards red carpet because last time we attended the Junos we absolutely slayed it.

The 2016 Juno Awards go down on Sunday, April 3 and WOTE will be there with their fingers crossed and with the hope of leaving with their arms full. Theyre nominated for Group of the Year, Pop Album of the Year and for the JUNO Fan Choice award.

The band also confirms that theyre performing at JUNOfest, a two-night music event that leads up to the award night in its host city, Calgary. All before resuming their nation-wide tour.

Before letting Sarah off the hook, I asked her for one last thing, a playlist of some of her favorite artists.

.

Adele

“Well, first of all, why was I not born her? Adele speaks all truth when it comes to love. She clearly has had her share of broken hearts. This girl portrays everything any girl in all the world has ever wanted to say in general. Not only that, but she does it with her haunting and extraordinary voice, capturing the essence of every story she is telling. She is brilliant, absolutely brilliant.”

.

Bon Iver

“This man is what heart and soul is about when it comes to music. You can hear the passion in his voice, his songwriting and most importantly, his poetic lyrics are magically stunning and real. I can listen to Bon Iver for hours, but in order to hear it right, you have to be in a moving vehicle, looking out the window, preferably at night. ‘Skinny Love’ is one of those songs that make you feel like you’re in a movie.”

.

Bruno Mars

“I want to marry Bruno Mars. I like to have him to listen to on the road ’cause it’s a nice change when you’re feeling tired and down. It picks you up and makes you feel good. Although I much do prefer his acoustic versions of songs to his radio friendly, chart climbing tunes. He is just dreamy, dreamy. He is my pop music crush.”

.

Eminem

“I love everything Eminem does like ‘I Need a Doctor.’ Eminem kills it with this genius track alongside Dr.Dre and Skylar. She has an amazing voice. Eminem and Dre go back from past to present with the lyrics and this song is just touching because it’s like a duet, but not the traditional kind. I like that. He’s bad ass and for real.”

.

Ryan Bingham

“Ryan’s song ‘The Weary Kind’ is the touring song. No one has ever, ever, ever written a song that speaks more truth about the road than this one. I have tried a few times to write a song like this and never have I achieved this kind of greatness. It is everything about living on the road. If you don’t get it and don’t fucking cry when you listen to it, then you do not live the life of a touring musician.”
