That time David Guetta was desperate for Nicki Minaj
A David Guetta track featuring Nicki Minaj is nothing new.
These days, when the iconic DJ releases an album, a collab with the hip hop star is basically expected.
David’s latest album 7 didn’t disappoint. The BFFs teamed up again for the record’s 7th single “Goodbye.”
There was a time though when David was so desperate for the opportunity to work with Nicki, that he spent a year relentlessly pursuing her.
“Yes, I did,” David laughs. “I chased her. Usually, I never call artists, they usually call me so I can produce for them. But I was a really big fan of her work, even a long time ago.”
After some patience and persuasion, David finally got Nicki to lay down her vocals on a track that became their 2001 hit “Where Them Girls At.”
Times have changed and today, David barely needs to ask.
The two have since produced four more hot singles, including their 2015 chart-topper “Hey Mama,” and of course their latest “Goodbye. ”
“We have a great vibe and lots of fun in the studio,” David says and adds that he is more than happy with the outcome every time.
“I’m proud of what we’ve done and I’m happy I took her somewhere really new.”
